WE STUDY THE COGNITIVE SCIENCE OF ETHICS, KNOWLEDGE & POWER

We are a group of cognitive scientists with diverse interests. We study relationships between self and society, power and knowledge, technology and culture. Much of our work seeks to understand the nature of epistemic injustice and oppression: How are individuals and groups harmed as knowers? How do our beliefs about what people are like influence our judgments of how people ought to be? How do systems of power shape the ways we understand the world (including the work we do as scientists)? We address these questions by integrating theory and methods from cognitive science, social psychology, philosophy, science & technology studies, and data science.

We are located in Princeton’s Department of Psychology and the University Center for Human Values.
